OGo 1.1 uses a newer version of SOPE that requires a UTF-8 encoded database whereas previous versions used a LATIN-1 database. This is documented in WMOGAG - http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/whitemice/wmogag/file_view Upgrade both hosts to OGo 1.1 and the correct version of SOPE, convert your existing database's encoding (as described in WMOGAG) and file a bug if the problem persists. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. Both installations are connecting the same database. In version 1.0 it's possible to search for a single swedish character in Companies and for example return all companies with the letter "å" in them. In version 1.1 the same search returns no hits. If I pull up the same entry in Companies some encoding conversion is not done correctly. In version 1.0: Reklambyrå AB In version 1.1: ReklambyrÁB The same problem occurs not only in the company name but also in Comments inside a Contact. The database is running encoding SQL_ASCII. Is it recommended to use UTF8 the database for OGo version 1.1? Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Return an array with output like the query - SELECT log_id, object_id, obj_type, action FROM log, obj_info WHERE object_id = obj_id AND log_id > 68720 73870:73840:Job:05_changed 73880:73840:Job:00_created 73910:73840:Job:05_changed 73960:73830:Job:05_changed I'm writing a process to take changes from the OGo system and propogate them to other systems. Currently working with connection to the Db and using the query above. Logic is that the process stores the last log entry it saw (log.log_id) and it periodically wakes up and checks for more recent log entries and if it finds some it walks through them pushing created/changed objects to a SOAP web service. Since log.log_id is indexed this has so far proven to be pretty light weight. And the daemon only has to store the number of the last log entry it saw. But I'd like to be able to do this without connecting directly to the Db. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): TRUNK How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Thanks a lot to whooha on IRC. My OGo installation is quite old, starting with 1.1.3 then upgraded at 1.1.7. This bug was present only in 1.1.7, all other versions didn't throw that exception. Related to the backtrace log attached to this bug, here is the details : (gdb) frame 3 #3 0x00002ada404d1ebd in -[NSString rangeOfString:options:] (self=0x1742198, _cmd=0x2ada45f23730, string=0x16ac738, mask=1) at NSString.m:466 466 return [self rangeOfString:string options:mask range:range]; (gdb) print string $1 = (class NSString *) 0x16ac738 (gdb) print *string $3 = {{isa = 0x2ada406a9ca0}} (gdb) po self pbx tlphone raccordement voIP We was suspecting something with special chars (should be téléphone). The database is UTF-8 encoded, and I've managed to find this record in job table, keywords column. Replacing the 'é' with 'e' and OGo didnt crash anymore ! I've multiple other keywords with special chars, no problem so far. ------- Additional Comments From sebastia@l00-bugdead-prods.de 2008-03-12 13:54 ------- its me, whooha, when you upgraded between 1.1.3 and now have 1.1.7, On IRC I thought you only upgraded from 1.1.6 to 1.1.7, but that obviously was only your latest upgrade ;) I think the database encoding changed from latin-1 to utf-8. have you dumped your database, and recoded it from latin-1 to utf-8 ?
