Hm, give
   break raise (if it stops here, capture the backtrace and say  
"continue")
   break abort
a try. Possibly this preserves the stack trace before the abort()  
pulls down the process.

Two things are interesting here:
a) why the ERROR
b) why the crash after the ERROR
