Fortunately my blood line have all remained shaggy all the way to the
grave.  I guess that makes me especially cut out for this kind of thing.

Beats me, I didn't mean anything especially profound.  It is Open Source
so if it doesn't do something you want you are free to fix/extend it.  

As for "productive use of resources", that is for everyone to decide for
themselves.
