Well, it still does plenty of useful things, after all it contains the  
whole OGo! :-)
Not sure what you mean by 'abandon'. The code is there and works. And  
after all its FOSS, everyone who prefers working on that codebase can  
still do it!
Its just that *I* prefer working on the 'new' things ;-)
