I allways understood only the ISO's for SuSE linux were paid.
I think FTP installation of SuSE linux was allways possible.
Now Novell has taken over SuSE, the ISO for SuSE9.1 Personal edition is
free for download from the SuSE site and official mirrors.
SuSE 9.1 Professional is not free, but basicly it is the same as the
personal version except for the LOADS of extra programs that go with the
Professional version. However those extra programs are for the greater
majority allso available through Yast/Red Carpet or manual
download/installation of the rpm's. (btw, it would be cool if OGo could
be made available as rpm and installable through Yast/Red Carpet ;-) )
