You know please who can type..:) Seriously, there is a lot that needs to be done. Here is a partial todo list. 1. Collect the various installation notes, for the various distro's 2. Proof them to determine if they are correct and current 3. Once proofed, documentation needs to be submitted for review for grammatical issues to review editors 4. Upon approval docs will be published in a new archive I have setup. The same process needs to to be done for FAQ's HowTo's Tutorial's Reference Links Error reports Glossary. videos <--- for Kelly G..:) Currently implementing a "clone" of the following http://plone.org/documentation for our use (plus videos) . This facility will be for approved docs only and users will be restricted. As I just installed it, ie: tonight, I need a few days to sort it out and get familiar with its mechanics, workflow and user input mechanism. All docs posted will be under a creative commons with restriction license. docs.opengroupware.org is a great treasure trove of data, and contributor's are greatly appreciated for using it. However its very outdated software now, needs a software update and upgrade, and as I dont want to break it, its easier to migrate data from that facility to an update version that is already build and in place. As always comments ideas and contributed insights (negative or positive) are always welcomed to the list please. regards and thanks for your interest. /ch From documentation@opengroupware.org Wed Jan 12 01:48:48 2005 From: documentation@opengroupware.org (Chris H) Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2005 20:48:48 -0500 Subject: [OGo-Documentation] Introducing myself In-Reply-To: <41E47E9F.1000908@magma.ca> References: <1105490093.4793.17.camel@gerrypc.pathtech.org> <41E47E9F.1000908@magma.ca> Message-ID: <41E48200.1050602@magma.ca> Chris H wrote: > Greetings G.R.S > > The documentation project is currently in need of very talented > contributors. Play with it till you get comfortable with the options and tools presented. Pls dont use wiki's as they are deprecated. Also please review how to link to other docs to you workspace. Once you are comfortable and interested in review documentation of any kind, the easiest way to collect the data is to create a folder called faq's for example and then create links to the various docs that you search for. Once complete, then you have a collection of docs to review. There are several ways to report, but will point that out later should you want to take up this cause.. regards /ch From documentation@opengroupware.org Wed Jan 12 04:26:47 2005 From: documentation@opengroupware.org (Helge Hess) Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2005 05:26:47 +0100 Subject: [OGo-Documentation] Doxygen Message-ID: <2C2523E5-6452-11D9-8958-000D936E5072@opengroupware.org> Hi, BTW: something which also would be nice is a source code documentation, eg generate using Doxygen: http://www.stack.nl/~dimitri/doxygen/ Maybe someone wants to work on this? Message-ID: <41E94993.3040809@pathtech.org> I have a rh9 laptop on which I am attempting to install ogo 1alpha. Getting the files and installing them was no problem BUT I find myself in an awkward situation, I can' t get postgres started. The error is "psql: FATAL: Database "root" does not exist in the system catalog." and I cannot find the command(s) to make pg work. Because I think that this kind of info should alwaqys be provided. Perhaps a setup guide. I am hoping that once I get 1.xalpha installed I will have the start of such a document for RH9 that could possibly be used as a template for other platforms. Yes, this belongs into the PostgreSQL documentation (and probably is in there already). OGo should probably provide better FAQ and troubleshooting documents though (which might point to the PostgreSQL documentation for resolution). G., please post your issue on the users list to solve it. If you solved it, post a _solution_ here, this list is not for solving install issues, but to document them. > I am hoping that once I get 1.xalpha installed I will have the start > of such a document for RH9 that could possibly be used as a template > for other platforms. My problem was postmaster was started as 'postgres' being the owner. So inorder to create a database or start psql I had to 'su postgres'. My Linux distrbution came with PostgreSQL and it had done all configurations. So I had to set/change the password for 'postgres' user. When I logged in postgres and gave 'psql template1', it let me in. After that you can create database, user or tables... So make sure that your postmaster is running as postgres. I tried trun k after cleaning up manually and reported that the rpms for RH9 do not cleanup properly but leave stuff. Again not any response as to whether this is expected except from /ch that he thought it a good point. So it is now documented on this list that the 1.0 rpms do not remove themselves properly. Perhaps you did but I keep posting and get no responses I figure that everything is still a go. I tried trun k after cleaning up manually and reported that the rpms for RH9 do not cleanup properly but leave stuff. Again not any response as to whether this is expected except from /ch that he thought it a good point. So it is now documented on this list that the 1.0 rpms do not remove themselves properly. Since waiting is in order and I do not have a clean machine any longer, I would appreciate it if you would remove me from doing any more with RH9 and the 1.0 testing.
