You don't need the compatibility layer. ZideStore already is the 
middleware which coordinates between "external" protocols and OGo.
(indeed ZideStore is not really OGo specific and can be used for other 
backends as well)

ZideStore does already implement those parts of Exchange WebDAV which 
are required for Connector 1.2.

ZideStore already contains everything to host the Connector v1.2. The 
"only" thing to be done is to fix ZideStore for Connector 1.4 (or 2.0, 
which one are you talking about?).

The 1.4 Connector currently crashes on most folders if we try to 
connect to ZideStore, but given the source it should be relatively easy 
to find out why :-)
