I volunteer to make that patch. Takes me 5 minutes instead of some
hours required to think of consequences in packaging etc when we use a
current GNUstep make.

Because this is proven to be stable for quite a wide range of systems
and a packaging process exists which works fine with exactly that
version.
Did you test gstep-make 1.7.2 on SuSE 6.2 or RedHat 6? What about Sun
Cobalt Linux? Is the experience of the SKYRIX staff still valid with
the new release or what tweaks are introduced?

Please! OGo is not a system for *developers* like GNUstep, it's a fully
deployed mission critical application - any breakage can mean havoc at
customer sites and I'm not sure whether you are aware of the scale of
this.
It makes absolutely no sense to upgrade something which apparently has
no problems.

Again, I don't want to let stay things how they are forever - in an
ideal world we can just use the prestine gstep-make sources. We can
upgrade gstep-make when there is time. Last time I cost' me several
days of work!
