Don't understand what this means :-) The posted example suggests that  
you need to decode the charsets as given by the client. (treating the  
source as ASCII bytes and switching charsets as necessary)

Can't follow all that either, you are probably deep inside the  
Funambol sourcecode :-)

No. And why would you need that? Do you ever delete more than a few  
items per sync? Sounds like an extremely unlikely scenario.

Or is it just for testing? In this case I would recommend VMware  
snapshots! :-)
