I'll beg to differ on that.  As of today, I have 892 Memos on my Palm Treo, which sync to Outlook Notes.  Blackberries also have a Memos application which syncs information to Outlook Notes.  On mobile devices, Notes/Memos  are great for reference materials, lists, even small project plans.  Some people live off of them, and they provide for quick and easy access to freeform information on a mobile device.

Please keep that usage case in mind when you plan to handle notes in GroupDAV.  Hope it helps!
