Hello all,

I'm pleased to report that I have just successfully built and installed
OpenGroupware 1.1 from trunk (build 1934) with SOPE 4.6 beta (containing
gnustep-make 1.13) and with apache 2.2.4 on Mac OS X Server 10.4.9

I am intentionally cross posting this message because the questions I have
may not be related to OGo running on Mac OS X but I also don't' see a lot o=
f
people posting about their Mac OS X experiences and instead of people
complaining about their experiences not working, how about being happy abou=
t
something working and having some positive news for a change?

The last time I built OGo was from version 1.1.6 yummy in August 2006 and
using SOPE 4.5.9 alpha with gnustep-make 1.10, so I noticed a few teeny tin=
y
changes when running the web-ui, and thus the formation of my questions:

1.) After starting web-ui, I noticed this new message:

Apr 29 17:32:38 ogo-webui-1.1 [4461]: SNS support disabled.
>

What is SNS?

2.) After making the first connection to web-ui from a browser these
messages appear and are of interest:

Apr 29 17:35:06 ogo-webui-1.1 [4461]: <0x0x2f5aa40[OGoHelpManager]> Note: n=
o
> OGo documentation installed!
>

I wonder what mistake I made and where should the OGo documentation be
installed? Am I missing a defaults entry perhaps? I didn't see anything
special in my previous sys admin / OGo installation documentation about thi=
s
from last year.

Apr 29 17:35:06 ogo-webui-1.1 [4461]: <0x0x2f5aa40[OGoHelpManager]> SP:
> (null)
>

What does SP with a null value mean? I

Apr 29 17:35:06 ogo-webui-1.1 [4461]: [ERROR] (116D116D014634D74A) did not
> find dockable page: 'Registration'
> Apr 29 17:35:06 ogo-webui-1.1 [4461]: SkyDock did not find dockable page
> Registration
>

I also don't recall seeing this error before. Any suggestions on what to do
to alleviate the Registration dockable page error?

Thank you tons,

Tabitha

P.S. I'd love to see the core maintainers of OpenGroupware get together wit=
h
Apple so that Apple would bundle OGo with Mac OS X Server in a future
version such as Leopard like they are doing for the CalDAV as part of their
forthcoming new calendar server in Leopard Server <
http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/leopard/icalserver.html > which reads
excerpted:

Yes Apple, and don't forget our friend OpeGroupware!

Apple is also incorporating Ruby on Rails
http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/leopard/more.html which is free marketin=
g
for Rails (this is similar to what I'd love to see Apple do with
OpenGroupware):

If Apple bundled OpenGroupware with Leopard, it could bring a lot of
momentum and wider adoption and therefore a more rich community of users
using OpenGroupware IMHO (note: this is nothing against OpenBSD, FreeBSD, o=
r
Linux whatsoever). It would just be nice to see OpenGroupware in the hands
of more people including people who might not be greatly skilled at handlin=
g
the vagaries of sys admin that requires patience such as when building OGo
and SOPE and gnustep-make with mod_ngo for Apache. And for the doubters
about the future of Apple and about Apple being influential, its clear from
Paul Graham's Essay (Graham of Y Combinator startup company incubator and
investment company) that Apple is well on its way to a rare comeback:

So let's tag team Microsoft Exchange. How about a fund raiser to send Helge
Hess and his core team of OGo musketeers to beautiful Cupertino, California
to meet with Apple at their headquarters and do some further Microsoft
coffin nailing! It would be a great way to come full circle considering tha=
t
OpenGroupware is possible due to the origins of NeXTSTEP and WebObjects :-)
