This week I experienced the same problem at a customer with 2 computers
doing the same thing.
This caused very bad server performance because the ZideStore process
eat all CPU. After restarting ZideStore, the same behavior was
happening. Then I checked the outlook installs, their settings etc, and
all seemed ok. One computer had suspicious plugins installed though,
google desktop search and itunes, 2 things that shouldn't be in Outlook.
I removed those but that didn't change anything. Then I killed outlook
and found that still the PROPFINDs are happening, so it couldn't be
outlook directory, but an external application.
After some fun with taskmgr and killing processes I found the
application that caused this. The application is called DesktopSMS, no
idea what that application does, but it likes to bomb (prob) the outlook
calendar and contacts.
The DesktopSMS application is removed, ZideStore doesn't eat 99% CPU
anymore and the server runs extremely fast as usual and a happy customer
(again).
Hope this helps someone!
