... but I think I can answer this one. If I remember right you can  
either do a 'slow sync' or a 'fast sync' with SyncML. To do a 'fast  
sync' you basically have 'sync anchors' and the client can tell the  
server to just sync the changes since the last 'anchor' it knows.
