I'm a bit confused about OpenGroupware's Outlook support. It says:

Does that mean that OGo still does not support using Outlook (with or

Well, SKYRiX 5 *is* OGo in a maintained variant. But in any case you 
have to buy the ZideLook plugin, which is closed source (and not owned 
by SKYRiX).

There is an effort on a SourceForge project to write an OpenSource 
Outlook plugin. If this turns out to be successful, we might see a 
solution with even less cost.

BTW: We do not really want to encourage people to use Outlook. We are 
providing software for doing so, but the preferred way is certainly the 
development of an Outlook replacement running on Windows. We'll see 
whether Glow or Chandler will turn into one which can be accepted by 
Outlook users.

My setup 
Linux version 2.4.20-8 (bhcompile@porky.devel.redhat.com) (gcc version
3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)) #1 Thu Mar 13 17:54:28 EST 2003



When attemtping to start OG for the first time using :

 ./OpenGroupware -WOPort 20000 -WOHttpAllowHost localhost

I get :

./OpenGroupware -WOPort 20000 -WOHttpAllowHost localhost
./OpenGroupware: error while loading shared libraries:
libOGoFoundation_d.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory

So I try adding
/opt/opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/
To /etc/ld.so.conf; then ldconfig -v I see:

/opt//opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil:

I know it's early in the evolution of OG but I thought I would ask.

This should be libOGoFoundation_d.so.5.0. If it mentions 1.0, the 
package is broken (Bjoern, please take a look tomorrow !)

As a quick HACK you could link the 5.0 libs to 1.0 versions, eg
   ln -s libOGoFoundation_d.so.5.0 libOGoFoundation_d.so.1.0

We'll check the RPM packages another time tomorrow :-(

No, OGo should be absolutely stable. The only thing we changed from 
SKYRiX 4.1 to OGo is the packaging, which - obviously - is still a bit 
broken.

Oh sorry, I misunderstood your problem. Then of course try it the other 
way around, link the 1.0 libs to 5.0 ;-) The libraries are identical, 
it's just the packaging process which seems to be broken (build with 
wrong version numbers).

Hi guys!

I have downloaded all the debian packages using the deb-all.tar.bz2 file
and I install all the packages succesfully in my Debian 3.0
distribution.

I create the database and then, using the opengroupware user, try to run
the OpenGroupWeb server. But I have found that the debian packages miss
some libraries:

opengroupware@maquina1:~$ ldd
WOApps/OpenGroupware.woa/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/OpenGroupware | grep
not
        libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0 => not found
        libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0 => not found

If you try to look for this library you reach:

opengroupware@maquina1:~$ ls -l
/usr/lib/opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/libLSFoundation_d.so
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           24 Jul 10 20:24
/usr/lib/opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/libLSFoundation_d.so -> libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0

but then

opengroupware@maquina1:~$ ls -l
/usr/lib/opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0
ls:
/usr/lib/opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0: No such file or directory

I think the problem could be in:

opengroupware@maquina1:~$ dpkg -S libLSFoundation_d.so
opengroupware.org-logic-dev:
/usr/lib/opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/libLSFoundation_d.so

so

opengroupware.org-logic must have the missing library.


I have also found that in the directory

other libraries links lacks the original library, for example:

libLSAddress_d.so
libLSFoundation_d.so (the guilty not to work the server)
libLSSearch_d.so

I have found your debian packages very nice and modular so I hope we can
solve the problem and test our product.

After a succesful installation of the rpm-all package; when I run the
application service (standalone) I only get this when I query it with a
browser: (http://10.1.1.101:20000/) I'm using postgres and the db setup went
just fine. I can succesfully connect to it with:
psql ogo -h 10.1.1.101 -U ogo

The LSConnectionDictionary is set up right.

Any idea what I could have done wrong, or how to fix this?

I am using the website and trying to follow the instructions....but ran 
into a small problem

 From your Website for Postgres initialization:

$ cd /usr/lib/opengroupware.org/Database/PostgreSQL (works okay)
$ createdb ogo (works okay)
$ createuser -A -D ogo (works okay)
$ psql ogo ogo (works okay)

I get into trouble)

I am in BASH and it says "huh?" when I type in Defaults - it doesn't 
have a clue?

Any suggestions? I'm running Mandrake 9.0 with a freshly installed 
version of Postgres 7.3.3.3

I installed all of the rpms in the required order without any real issues.

I found the Defaults file in 
/opt/skyrix/system/Tools/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil

I ran it with the instructed command and got an error about not being 
able to find a
called library libFoundation_d.so.1.0

I am hoping to use the opengroupware server as a substitute for Exchange
server.  Is it possible to set something like this up?  Or do I need the
commercial version of skyrix to accomplish this goal?

I guess what I'm wondering is will the open source version work with the
closed-source MAPI/WebDAV plugin, Zidelook?

there is a script in the /opt/opengroupware.org, execute it like 'source
scriptname.sh' then that command will work.

I am trying to get OGO set up. I heard about it today on /. and it
sounds like a perfect answer:

Are there ANY docs about how to actually run the thing? I got the
postgres database set up, the .deb's installed. But, now waht?

I dont know how to start the server. I dont know what binaries there
are. Don't know how to edit the settings.  Anything? :D

After finding the OpenGroupware binary (that took some hunting), yes I
did. I'm thinking of trying to grab the three files from the RPMs.

The problem with libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0 is that it doesn't exist
but libLSFoundation_d.so is a link to it from the opengroupware.org-logic-dev
pacakge.

lrwxrwxrwx root/root         0 2003-07-10 01:39:07 ./usr/lib/opengroupware.org/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil/libLSFoundation_d.so -> libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0

This shows that the opengroupware.org-logic package should contain the
libLSFoundation_d.so.1.0 but it doesn't. So it looks like we'll either
have to fix the deb packages or build from scratch...

After installing Opengroupware via RPMS on Red Hat 9 I receive a
Floating Point Exception error when trying to start it.

You can fix the issue with the library by editing the /etc/ld.so.conf =
file, adding a line like
/opt/skyrix/system/Libraries/ix86/linux-gnu/gnu-fd-nil
and running ldconfig.

Now that the Defaults executible (not script) can find all it's =
libraries it segfaults on my redhat 8.0 system after about 150 =
"Uncatched Objective-C exception:" errors.  I guess the library isn't =

Would it be possible get get a copy of the Debian source archives used
to build the .debs? I would really like to mess around with them a bit,
and understand more about how the software is put together, specifically
for Debian.

Announcement of this project is an amazing event for me and my company.
Replacing Exchange is our top priority right now, and we have already
deployed OpenLDAP, Cyrus, Postfix, Samba and the Bynari plugin. The
Bynari plugin is less than ideal. Namely, it sucks.

If this project can fill this need, for groupware working seamlessly
across so many different OS's with such good standards support... we're
onboard immediatly. :D

Thank you for bringing this option to the table!

Can we have more information about how Outlook fits into this? I do not
fully understand which portions of the peice that makes outlook work are
open source and which aren't?

Carlo - there is no such script in /opt/opengroupware.org.  Do you have 
an explicit name - looks like I need it because I tried using the 
Defaults in the skyrix tree and now it's looking for 
libfoundation_d.so.1.0.  An environment inherited from this script might 
fix that too!

Note - since this stuff is all "new" I figure it makes sense to post 
these questions in public to see if there are things missing in the 
instructions....like executing this environment script..

Yes. Before using any OGo tool you need to setup the GNUstep 
environment. On Mandrake this should work by calling

$ source /opt/opengroupware.org/OpenGroupware.org.sh

(yes, I know, a bit weird capitalization ;-)

Afterwards the Defaults tool should work:

$ Defaults read

etc.

So - I found the script in the -env- rpm. It didn't install for some 
reason?  Anyway I reran the install with --nodeps --force and got it 
there.  Now I also have problems with GLIBC_2.3...  so I guess it's 
install from source time..

What I would ask the ogo folks to do is update the database init 
instructions with sourcing this script.

Hi there,

I'm in the process of installing OpenGroupWare. For testing purposes
I've decided to start the opengroupware server manually. After resolving
library problems I find that when I try to start the server I receive
the following result:

Uncatched Objective-C exception:

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm using RedHat 9,
Postgresql is installed and seems to be working fine.

Yes, how was this called, "DLL hell or something" ? ;-)

The OGo RPMs provided on the website are build on a very recent RPM  
distribution and require glibc 2.3 (only in terms of build-time  
linking, not in terms of functional requirements) which wasn't yet  
available at RH 7.2 times.

So you can either wait till someone steps in as a maintainer for that  
older version (we can provide the build server !), upgrade to a recent  
RH version, install glibc 2.3 on your system (should be available on  
www.fsf.org) or try to build from the source.

Please check out the "Install" section in the Users menu on OGo. We 
filled in some text in the meantime. Seems that the packages still have 
some minor issues, maybe you should wait till tomorrow.

No, this is no good solution as far as I can see.

It's important that the GNUstep environment is properly loaded, usually=20=

by sourcing /opt/opengroupware.org/OpenGroupware.org. If this is done,=20=

the shared libraries should be located properly.

We heard about that ;-) But to be fair, writing plugins for Outlook is 
a huge mess - this is no different for ZideLook.

What you pay for is ZideLook, the Outlook plugin (the plugin is not 
owned by us, so we couldn't make it OpenSource).
