It is broken as a result of changes to current Palm firmware /
applications / database format.

This issue goes all the way down to the pilot-link libraries used to
interface with the Palm database format:
http://www.pilot-link.org/node/166 - "Add support for the new OS5 and
later PIM applications". This may have been resolved by the pilot-link
package by this point but not everything has been modified up-stream
yet.

I think the better, and more modern/standardized, solution is to use the
Synthesis SyncML client for the Palm and the Funambol DS server with the
GroupDAV connector.

A new version of this was released just this morning -
http://mail.opengroupware.org/pipermail/groupdav/2006-December/000447.html
http://bionicmessage.net/funambol/index.html

I've only tested the previous version (which only supported events,
unlike the current version) but it worked quite well.

This solution also works with Windows Mobile devices [the clear future
as Palm seems content to let its technology languish] as well as just
about everything else.

Discussion of GroupDAV sync belongs over on the groupdav@ list as it
isn't really OpenGroupware specific.
