Well you know your stuff Florian and I must confess I originally dismissed
this suggestion. In fact you are correct.
ls -ld /bin/sh--------->dash.
So I dug around a bit and it turns out that both dash & bash are installed by
default on Ubuntu and derivatives specifically to save space on the CD. Both
root and initial user shells default to dash and all other users default to
bash. Since Ubuntu and derivatives are installed from live CD's for the most
part, users interested in running ogo need to remove dash, log out and bash
becomes the default shell.
Running the necessary commands to restart ogo and support requirements
(postgresql-apache2 first of course) and OGo comes happily alive on such
systems.
So if we combine the basic instructions from JD Bearden and remove dash for
bash, OGo lives just fine on Ubuntu versions and derivatives.
While its not an issue, I did use 7.4 postgresql for this load. However this
version is no longer supported according to apt-get output. While I have not
test on postgresql 8.x was wondering if their are issues or best to remain on
7.4 for now and wait till ogo goes final?
Many thanks Florian.
