These terms have their standard meaning in this case; release is a
'stable' released version and trunk is the version currently receiving
development. As always, pick one based on your confidence level, need
for features, and need for bug-freeness.

You package manager will do this for you.

1.) Download RPMs into a directory
2.) rpm -Uvh *.rpm
3.) Restart Apache
If you have all the required packages installed then it 'just works'.
You may have to diddle with the Apache module, depending on you version
of Apache.
