Not certain what you mean by "create accounts for every group". Every
user must have an account, but a user may be a member of multiple teams.
If you mean on the client, possibly. Most of the clients currently only
support one calendar per account (or treat a "calender" as an
"account").

You mean when you move appointments via CalDAV you get actual
duplication, and not just artifacts in the client?

No, but you can retrieve free/busy information, which is the correct way
to check another user's availability. This is documented in WMOGAG.
