I am trying to install OpenGroupware on a freshly installed Debian 4 (Etch) and would like to install the most stable version so I guess this would be the 1.1.7 "Release" version (not trunk).

I have not found an installation guide for Debian so after some Google searching I tried the following deb setting in sources.list:
deb http://download.opengroupware.org/nightly/packages/debian etch releases/opengroupware-1.1.7-close
Is this correct?
There is a " opengroupware-1.1.7-yummy" directory too. What is the difference/which version should be used?

When running:
apt-get install opengroupware.org

I was told there was an "unfullfilled" (translated from norwegian) dependency to opengroupware.org1.1 So I added this:
apt-get install opengroupware.org opengroupware1.1

Still unfullfilled dependencies so I continue to grow the list. My last attempt was:
apt-get install opengroupware.org opengroupware1.1 opengroupware.org1.1-webui opengroupware.org1.1-xmlrpcd opengroupware.org-zidestore1.5 libfoundation1.1

This time I got an error message saying that libfoundation1.1 is not available.

Isn't the package opengroupware.org suppposed to resolve all these dependencies?
How is the release version of OpenGroupware supposed to be installed on Debian Etch?

Arne

Sorry don't know anything about installing specifically on etch. There is - http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/cboulanger/ogo-postgresql-phppgadmin-= debian-etch/view and http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/brianaustin2019/= Opengroupware%20on%20Etch%20with%20Funambol/view Also be sure to check out - http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/whitemice/wmogag/view - for an explanation of OGo versions. > apt-get install opengroupware.org opengroupware1.1 > opengroupware.org1.1-webui opengroupware.org1.1-xmlrpcd > opengroupware.org-zidestore1.5 libfoundation1.1 > This time I got an error message saying that libfoundation1.1 is not > available. You need to add a repository for SOPE; OGo is built on the SOPE application server which includes libFoundation. Of course it is always easier to just download and install the packages and not futz around with all the apt/yum/zypp/{add-thingy-here} repository crap. You can probably just grab the files from here - http://download.opengroupware.org/releases/unstable/opengroupware-1.1.7-clo= se/etch/binary-i386/ - and here - http://download.opengroupware.org/release= s/unstable/sope-4.7.1-fwd/etch/binary-i386/ - and install them. They're ar= en't many odd dependencies; pilot-link is the only package a standard serv= er install might not have. > Isn't the package opengroupware.org suppposed to resolve all these > dependencies? > How is the release version of OpenGroupware supposed to be installed > on Debian Etch?=20 --=-rkF5SKzeQDvAsbdZT+mv Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBHAq0MLRePpNle04MRAmMbAJ9D3inB6laekc04K0foEd02wF3DWwCeP8Qe d2tvc9tCViwZxHh48FSb4HI= =j6jj -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-rkF5SKzeQDvAsbdZT+mv-- From users@opengroupware.org Wed Oct 3 12:03:31 2007 From: users@opengroupware.org (Sven Arnold) Date: Wed, 03 Oct 2007 13:03:31 +0200 Subject: [OGo-Users] Installing release version of Ogo on Debian 4 (Etch) In-Reply-To: <826433960710021219l70ab1e77gf095326ad7bf7f3d@mail.gmail.com> References: <826433960710021219l70ab1e77gf095326ad7bf7f3d@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: <47037703.6010708@fit.fraunhofer.de> Hi Arne, > I have not found an installation guide for Debian so after some Google > searching I tried the following deb setting in sources.list: > deb http://download.opengroupware.org/nightly/packages/debian etch > releases/opengroupware-1.1.7-close There is an old readme for 1.0beta2 on sarge that might give you some hints: http://download.opengroupware.org/releases/unstable/opengroupware-1.0beta.2-rock/sarge/INSTALL_10b2_SARGE.txt Anyways, ogo should be installable on etch via apt. >From my sources.list: # # OpenGroupware.org # deb http://download.opengroupware.org/nightly/packages/debian etch releases/ThirdParty deb http://download.opengroupware.org/nightly/packages/debian etch releases/opengroupware-1.1.6-yummy deb http://download.opengroupware.org/nightly/packages/debian etch releases/opengroupware-1.1.7-close deb http://download.opengroupware.org/nightly/packages/debian etch releases/sope-4.7.1-fwd Please note, that of course each entry should be a one-liner. Well, and the process to debug it would be: - start OGo in GDB (gdb ogo-zidestore-1.5) - do 'r' (run) - do Ctrl-C - do 'break -raise' - do 'c' (continue) - reproduce the issue - check GDB and use 'bt' (backtrace) to generate a backtrace - post a bugreport on bugzilla.opengroupware.org with the trace Thanks, Helge From users@opengroupware.org Fri Oct 5 12:18:42 2007 From: users@opengroupware.org (Adam Tauno Williams) Date: Fri, 05 Oct 2007 07:18:42 -0400 Subject: [OGo-Users] errors while creating calendar items In-Reply-To: References: <497AFDD1-3EB2-41C5-856C-3539A4E8A4A1@2nibbles.net> <20071003205957.3yc1hx30v4g8kkgk@www.mormail.com> Message-ID: <1191583122.5355.23.camel@aleph.wmmi.net> On Thu, 2007-10-04 at 23:16 +0200, Helge Hess wrote: > On 04.10.2007, at 02:59, Adam Tauno Williams wrote: > > The "does not recognize mutableCopyWithZone" means you are probably > > using the wrong Objective-C library (libobjc-lf vs. libobcj). > Unlikely. Ok, I can duplicate this issue using OGo & SOPE trunk on SuSE 9.3/libobjc-3.3.5-5 and openSUSE 10.2/libobjc41-4.1.2_20061115-5. Sorry don't know anything about installing specifically on etch.  There
is -
http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/cboulanger/ogo-postgresql-phppgadmin-debian-etch/view and http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/brianaustin2019/Opengroupware%20on%20Etch%20with%20Funambol/view

Also be sure to check out -
http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/whitemice/wmogag/view - for an
explanation of OGo versions.

You need to add a repository for SOPE;  OGo is built on the SOPE
application server which includes libFoundation.

Of course it is always easier to just download and install the packages
and not futz around with all the apt/yum/zypp/{add-thingy-here}
repository crap.

You can probably just grab the files from here -
http://download.opengroupware.org/releases/unstable/opengroupware-1.1.7-close/etch/binary-i386/ - and here - http://download.opengroupware.org/releases/unstable/sope-4.7.1-fwd/etch/binary-i386/ - and install them.  They're aren't many odd dependencies;  pilot-link is the only package a standard server install might not have.

If you just want to add events to the calendar you should just be able =20 to post the events by using curl to put the file into ZideStore. I =20 suppose an example of how to do that would be a good thing for WMOGAG. > Just to open a new calendar in Thunderbird/Lightning is NOT the right > way for team calendars (not everyone wants to open 10 diff calendars). Sure; that is the reason I don't like the 'folder model'. But in =20 OGo there aren't calendarS, there is the calendar and the folders are =20 just views. You can make events appear in multiple folders [views]; =20 the standard folders are based on permissions. Or you can enable the =20 Overview folder [see WMOGAG or the docs plone] and add "all intranet" =20 as a participant (See Bug#1916) to the appointments you want all users =20 to see. And there is holiday support - =20 http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/olivier/holidays-reloaded/ & =20 http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/sasepp/sasepp/ - but I don't =20 think these show up via ZideStore. I try to setup a OGo server as a test env for lightning dev team (for using calDAV and test this). First: there is NO actual install guide on the website (just a comment as it will be added after release of 1.0). I used a grml boot CD (based upon debian sid) and installed it to HD. Afterwards I switched the .deb sources to debian original (stable, unstable, testing and experimental) and added the line for OGo nighlty built. I tried to "apt-get install opengroupware.org" - but there are no dependencies solved on its own, need to add all by hand. And package sope4.7-gdl1-postgresql depends on libpq3 which isn't anymore in debian, it was included in sarge, no more in etch. Any hints? Could it be resolved on dev side? Use case here: one team calendar for 20 people in OGo. 10 calendars from outlook/other apps/online calendar as .ics files to integrate/import into the team calendar. Need to evaluate the outlook plugin from OGo, still. We've got "more" calendars/teams in OGo and want to sort some appointments into diffenent teams in OGo. I'm failing to see the issue; if you upload 10 ics files to a Group folder the read access team id will be set to the id of the team and the appointments will all appear in the folder. Of course you may end up with duplicates if the the appointment appears in more than one ics file. > Need to evaluate the outlook plugin from OGo, still. I have the Zidelook plugin, it seems to work OK; I just don't get the big *wow* factor of Outlook's calendar. I think it is a pretty lame calendar compared to what some other applications provide. > >> Just to open a new calendar in Thunderbird/Lightning is NOT the right > >> way for team calendars (not everyone wants to open 10 diff calendars). > > Sure; that is the reason I don't like the 'folder model'. You should be able to move appointments between folders, but using the groups folder I *think* an appointment will only appear in one folder (read access team id is single valued and I think folders only attend to the readAccessTeamId). You probably have to use the Overview folder(s) if you want really dynamic control of who sees that appointment. http://www.opengroupware.org/en/users/docs/snippets/ZideStore/ZideStore-URL= s.html > Simply best would be a function like "upload *.ics file into team > calendar" and done. The web site mentions up to FC3, but, looking around the downloads area I found what looks like a yum repository called Trunk for FC6 here -> http://download.opengroupware.org/nightly/packages/fedora-core6/trunk/ I hope this is the right one. When I use it, with the 'meta' package, the install fails on dependency's on libfoundation and sope45. Libfoundation and sope47 rpm's are in that same directory, so I'm a bit confused about how this repository is configured. The Thirdparty directory in the "releases" repository is empty so I didn't bother with it. I guess this might all get put right on the next nightly build. I'm keen to hear from any FC6 users, especially if there is a more appropriate repository to use. I noticed some posts on the forum where there is mention of a yum.repo setup referencing separate repositories for sope and libfoundation/thirdparty - would that type of configuration be better? Assuming I do get it to install, are there some directions on getting it configured? I don't have Postgre on the machine yet - if I put that on first will the .rpm's create the right databases? This is in the documentation, and I totally agree - I was never able to really get a clean install on Fedora using yum or apt repositories. I see you have some strong views about apt & yum. I have found yum a handy tool, but it only works properly if the dependencies in the spec files are set up correctly. I do appreciate that he admin surrounding making a package like this available for various flavors of Linux is substantial. I fully appreciate the points you make about access to an old repository when recovering from a catastrophe. That's why I maintain my own local repositories on the network here so I can stand a system back up from a LAN based local repository. Oh well - different strokes.... But til yet I hit so many problems as I'm really disappointed of these packages (yes, I know they are nightly built). First the packages depends on NO MORE available package (libpq3 which isn't in etch, to) and I don't find any guide for installing. The install on the OGo site tells something about pre-1.0 version, which seems to be ancient. After grabbing a ancient sarge libpq3 package I could go on. Now it stops at libapache2-mod-ngobjweb which depends on apache2-common., which isn't available any more, just apache2.2-common is available... Yes, it's trunk and unstable, but maybe these problems could be solved. I try to setup a trunk OGo for the lightning calendat team to test and improve calendar functions. NO way to change back from debian to SUSE ;-) I know "my debian" and doesn't want to learn another distribution (of which I don't get enough support and help from local ppl). Right now I added the "old stable" sarge repository into sources and install old versions of apache2 and libpq3. Lets see if it works. If you have an etch machine you could try installing on that... a working installation took some time for me to get running as some manual interventions were required. It took a while for me to find up-to-date information (this list was quite helpful). I have some untidy hand written notes from my time installing it. Hopefully the information is still relevant, though it probably isn't complete - I'm including it below : ---------- Links need to be created to the /etc/init.d/opengroupware script so it will run in the required runlevels... for instance I put a link called S92opengroupware in runlevels 2 through to 5. Also, be sure your default shell is bash - apparently there are some shell scripts with bashisms. If you want OpenGroupware to run with the latest database and webserver versions available in etch, ie. Postgres 8.1 and/or Apache 2 some extra steps may be required. Firstly the package manager may try to install old versions of Apache and Postgres. Override this. Also make sure libapache2-mod-ngobjweb is installed instead of libapache-mod-ngobjweb. The opengroupware.org-environment, opengroupware.org-webmain-tools and opengroupware.org-skyaptnotify may also need manual intervention to be installed. You may need to manually enable the rewrite and include modules for Apache2 : cd /etc/apache2/mods-enabled ln -s ../mods-available/rewrite.load ln -s ../mods-available/include.load ---------- Hopefully this is still relevant and helpful. -Mark From users@opengroupware.org Mon Oct 15 23:25:29 2007 From: users@opengroupware.org (Ken Smith) Date: Mon, 15 Oct 2007 23:25:29 +0100 Subject: [OGo-Users] FC6 Install - Database Questions In-Reply-To: <470E671D.3010601@kensnet.org> References: <470E671D.3010601@kensnet.org> Message-ID: <4713E8D9.1020407@kensnet.org> Ken Smith wrote: > Peter Duda wrote: >>> >>> Download the packages to a folder and do a "rpm -Uvh *.rpm". >>> > That's what I've done. I think Dovecot is a really good server (and IMAP4 implementation), can't be compared with UW. The advantage over Cyrus is that its supereasy to setup. Hrm, just checking "Created by me" results in a query like: SELECT DISTINCT t1.company_id FROM person t1 WHERE 1=3D2 Which obviously returns nothing. "My Contacts" does the same thing. Seems kind of brain damaged. Perhaps these values (limitByOwner, limitByContact) aren't bound to code anywhere (LSWPersonAdvancedSearch.m)? I've already done that for two of the smaller OGo sites (SOGo and SOPE) and probably will do it for OGo too. I should probably just remove the whole 'install' section for now. This is rather easy. Or maybe it isn't, hard to tell, the documentation is absolute =20 garbage. I've muddled my way through to doing something useful, but =20 don't expect much help from the scant docs. Is that software deprecated?? Well, it doesn't work with current Palms and there are conflicts with the current version of pilot-link. If you Palm supports IP (cellular data service or WiFi) install Synthesis an sync over the net using Funambol/GroupDAV. Currently it is a bit sketchy because Funambol and Synthesis disagree on some things, but an improved version should be out soon (BionicMessage developes he connector). So they are not. I get around this with a hack I just hacked the Makefile to let INSTALL_DIR point into another dirctory. However in the end I got that at least compiled, but not running. Now i have to get to the other installations like ngobj whatever (which seems not to be in the subversion tree) the stuff mentioned in OGOSources/INSTALL are not very clear what's e.g FHS_INSALL_ROOT in my case why I tried to place all below /usr/local/OGo-GNUstep.. and so one runs into one trouble after the other..
