Thank you for the pointers. I see you have some strong views about apt & 
yum. I have found yum a handy tool, but it only works properly if the 
dependencies in the spec files are set up correctly. I do appreciate 
that he admin surrounding making a package like this available for 
various flavors of Linux is substantial.

I fully appreciate the points you make about access to an old repository 
when recovering from a catastrophe. That's why I maintain my own local 
repositories on the network here so I can stand a system back up from a 
LAN based local repository. Oh well - different strokes....

I'll read the manual and let you know how I get on.
