Yes. Though not all changes require recompilation. OGo has reusable  
components which often can be 'plugged in'.

Hard to say w/o further investigation. Though it would be good to have  
that as a builtin-feature which can be configured using defaults (like  
in the appointment viewer/editor).

But there is no such thing like an "OGo programming guide".
